Experienced Support worker- Broomfield (Part Time)

We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable Support Worker to provide support for two clients based in Kaiapoi and Broomfield.

Week 1

• Thursday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Saturday: 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm, followed by a sleepover shift (11:00 pm – 7:00 am)
• Sunday: 7:00 am – 11:00 am (bowel care day)

Week 2

• Thursday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Friday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Friday: 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm, followed by a sleepover shift (11:00 pm – 7:00 am)
• Saturday: 7:00 am – 11:00 am (bowel care day)

What does a Support Worker do?

As part of a wider team, you will assist our clients to live as independently as possible, within their homes and community. You will help our clients to achieve their goals and reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support.  Responsibilities can be varied and you will follow a care plan, which may include some or all of the below:

• Meal preparation and community outings and integration
• Giving medication
• Personal cares (showering, toileting etc)
• Home management
• Bowel care trained (suppositories, enema admin, reflex regime-manual evacuation), clean SPC site and empty catheter and attach night bag.
• Full hoist/Gantry hoist, sliding board, manual wheelchair
• Signs of Autonomic dysreflexia
• Experienced with C7 ASIA A secondary to traumatic spinal cord injury client, Traumatic brain injury
• Familiarity with BPAP, cough assist machine
