Experienced Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Exotic and Small Animal Hospital of PA is looking for an experienced, dependable, motivated Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our growing team!

We provide medical and surgical care for a diverse range of patients, including birds, rabbits, rodents, reptiles, dogs, and cats. We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on patient care, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a collaborative veterinary team.

Previous canine and feline veterinary hospital experience is required, but we are happy to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic, initiative, and a genuine interest in exotic veterinary medicine.

Responsibilities

* Assist veterinarians with physical examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.

* Safely handle and restrain patients across a variety of species.

* Assist with blood collection, laboratory testing, radiographs, and other diagnostic procedures, as trained and authorized.

* Prepare and administer treatments and medications under veterinary supervision.

* Monitor hospitalized patients and assist with daily patient care.

* Assist with anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, and recovery, according to training and qualifications.

* Maintain accurate medical records and communicate professionally with clients.

* Keep treatment areas, examination rooms, and equipment clean and organized.

* Support daily hospital operations and work closely with the veterinary team to provide excellent patient care.

What We’re Looking For

* Previous veterinary hospital experience strongly preferred.

* A genuine interest in animal health, patient care, and learning new skills.

* Confidence handling animals or a willingness to develop safe, appropriate handling skills.

* Reliability, attention to detail, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility.

* Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.

* A willingness to learn, accept feedback, and adapt in a busy clinical environment.

* Exotic animal experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Schedule

Our hospital operates Tuesday through Saturday. Full-time availability is preferred.
