Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with precision and confidence.
• Perform animal restraint and handling using safe and humane techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately according to veterinary protocols.
• Collect blood samples via IV insertion or venipuncture (phlebotomy), operate diagnostic radiology equipment, and process laboratory tests efficiently.
• Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, manage critical care cases, and maintain aseptic techniques to prevent infections.
• Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software, including patient histories, treatment plans, and diagnostic results.
• Support pet owners with client communication regarding pet care instructions, medication administration, and follow-up needs.
• Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and laboratory analyzers with proficiency.
• Assist in animal husbandry tasks including grooming, feeding, cleaning kennels, and ensuring overall animal comfort.
• Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, horses (equine experience preferred), and other small animals with professionalism and compassion.

Qualifications

• Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong foundation in veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy.
• Demonstrated kennel experience along with dog handling skills; familiarity with pet grooming is a plus.
• Skilled in dental terminology and procedures related to veterinary dentistry.
• Experience in veterinary critical care, emergency medicine, anesthesia monitoring (including general anesthesia), and intensive care units.
• Proficient in laboratory work such as phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), radiology diagnostics, and laboratory diagnostics.
• Knowledge of veterinary surgical assistance procedures including animal catheterization and vascular access techniques.
• Ability to operate medical equipment safely and effectively while adhering to aseptic protocols.
• Strong animal handling skills across various species; capable of performing animal restraint safely under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration.
• Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling is preferred.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
