What they need

Experienced Veterinary Technician

About Us

North Iredell Animal Hospital is a growing, mixed-animal veterinary practice with a primary focus on compassionate, high-quality care for dogs and cats. Our team combines modern medicine with genuine small-town hospitality, providing personalized care while building lasting relationships with our clients and their pets.

We value teamwork, communication, accountability, and creating a supportive environment where every team member is respected and appreciated. We strive to practice high-quality medicine without losing the personal connection that makes veterinary care meaningful.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our close-knit team at North Iredell Animal Hospital. This position is ideal for someone who is confident in their technical abilities, takes initiative, communicates well with clients and coworkers, and enjoys being an active part of patient care.

We are looking for a technician who can step into a busy clinical environment with a strong foundation of veterinary knowledge and technical skills. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing patients throughout their visit, anticipating the needs of the veterinarian, assisting with diagnostics and procedures, and providing thoughtful client education.

Strong candidates should be comfortable with skills including:

  • Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Patient restraint and handling
  • Digital radiography and proper positioning
  • In-house laboratory testing and sample preparation
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
  • Dental procedures and dental radiography
  • Medication preparation and administration
  • Obtaining thorough patient histories
  • Client education regarding medications, preventative care, diagnostics, and treatment plans
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and communicating effectively with the veterinary team

Experience with Avimark is a plus but is not required.

While dogs and cats make up the majority of our caseload, we are a mixed-animal practice and occasionally care for small ruminants, poultry, pocket pets, and other species. Previous mixed-animal experience is not required, but applicants should be comfortable with the variety that comes with working in a mixed-animal hospital.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is dependable, confident, self-motivated, and team-oriented. Our technicians are an important part of how we practice medicine, and we value team members who can think ahead, recognize what needs to be done, and contribute without needing constant direction.

The right candidate will:

  • Have prior veterinary technician experience and a strong technical skill set
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Take initiative and anticipate the needs of patients, doctors, and teammates
  • Be receptive to feedback and willing to continue learning
  • Remain calm and adaptable when the schedule becomes busy or unexpected cases arise
  • Be willing to help wherever needed and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace

CVT/RVT credentialing is welcomed but not required. We are primarily seeking a candidate with demonstrated hands-on veterinary experience and a strong technical skill set.

Schedule & Compensation

This is a full-time position with a four-day work week:

  • 7:45 AM – 5:30 PM
  • No regular weekends
  • No on-call or after-hours duties

Pay: $16.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience, technical skill level, and credentials.

Benefits

  • Simple IRA retirement matching
  • AFLAC insurance
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • Short-term disability insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Employee veterinary care discounts
  • Four-day work week

If you're an experienced veterinary professional looking for a practice where you can use your skills, continue growing, and be part of a team that genuinely cares about its patients, clients, and one another, we'd love to hear from you.
