ABOUT HEQA
HEQA Security is building the quantum networking fabric for next-generation secure networks and the quantum internet. We already commercialize the first deployed workload of that platform: quantum-secure infrastructure for the most sensitive links between critical sites, deployed with tier-1 telecom operators, cloud providers and government customers.
What makes HEQA unique is the combination of a real business today, a production-grade stack built for real-world networks, from quantum physics and photonics to network software, and a credible path to owning a foundational layer of future quantum infrastructure. For physicists and engineers, that means frontier quantum technology that ships.
WHY HEQA
Your work ships.
What you build in the lab ends up running in operator and cloud networks, not in a drawer.
Frontier physics with a product attached.
Work across a deployed QKD product line and a next-generation entanglement roadmap at the same time.
Small, senior, high-impact team.
Direct access to the founders and the people making technical decisions; your ideas move fast from whiteboard to system.
A company in a growth phase.
Commercial traction is accelerating, and the team is scaling, so there is real room to grow with the role.
Connected to the research community.
We collaborate with leading academic groups and take part in international standardization.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Physics Department Manager, you will lead the research and development of quantum light sources and entanglement-based optical subsystems for our next-generation products. You will take ideas from the first experiment to a robust, field-deployable module, and you will have a strong voice in where our quantum-optics roadmap goes next.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Design, build, and align
advanced quantum optical setups, including lasers, nonlinear optical elements, and fiber and free-space optics.
Develop and characterize
quantum light sources, including entangled photon sources, with state-of-the-art performance and fidelity.
Plan and perform single-photon experiments,
including coincidence, time-correlation, interference, and quantum state characterization measurements; analyze and report the results.
Work with the electronics and FPGA teams
on single-photon detection, time-tagging, and high-precision synchronization.
Translate
lab-proven concepts into compact, stable, manufacturable optical subsystems for our products, including environmental robustness and cost.
Drive multidisciplinary R&D
across optics, hardware, software, algorithms, and mechanics: define requirements, test plans, and technical milestones.
Collaborate
with subcontractors and academic partners, and contribute to HEQA’s intellectual property.
WHAT YOU BRING
Academic:
Ph.D. in experimental physics (quantum optics, nonlinear optics or photonics); an M.Sc. with 3+ years of relevant hands-on research or industry experience will also be considered.
Optical setups:
Hands-on experience designing, building, and aligning optical setups, including lasers, nonlinear optical elements, and passive optics.
Data analysis:
Proficiency in Python (or similar) for experiment control, data analysis, and simulation.
Independent learning and communication:
Can learn independently from the scientific literature and write clear technical reports in English.
NICE TO HAVE
Nonlinear optics:
Phase matching and quasi-phase matching, frequency conversion, waveguide-based sources.
Entanglement:
Generating and characterizing entanglement.
Fiber optics:
Fiber components and systems. .
Single-photon measurements:
Experience with single-photon detectors (SPAD and/or SNSPD), time-tagging electronics and coincidence counting.
QKD:
Familiarity with QKD protocols.
Lab to product:
Experience turning research setups into engineered products.
WHO YOU ARE
Curious and self-driven:
You are passionate about experimental quantum optics and want to see your work become a real product.
Owner:
You take a project from idea to working hardware and are comfortable leading technical work with others.
Team player:
You enjoy working closely with HW and SW engineers and physicists from other disciplines toward shared goals.
