About the Job

As Expert AI Core Insurance Developer at Allianz Technology, you will design, develop, and maintain core insurance platform applications, incorporating AI-enabled capabilities to enhance functionality, performance, and user experience. Acting as a senior technical expert, you will drive the full application lifecycle – from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, and release – while providing production support and technical guidance across the wider IT organization. You will bring deep expertise in enterprise development technologies and insurance or banking domain knowledge to deliver robust, scalable solutions that support the business's digital transformation.

What you do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain core insurance applications and integrations, including SOAP/RESTful web services, across host, client-server, and web platforms, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
• Analyze business and system requirements, translating them into technical specifications and robust application designs.
• Develop and integrate AI-enabled features and capabilities into core insurance systems to improve automation, decision-making, and customer experience, using AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) in day-to-day engineering to accelerate safe, high-quality delivery.
• Provide production support, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, and perform root-cause analysis to ensure system stability and availability.
• Apply DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure automation, to streamline development, deployment, and monitoring.
• Act as a technical expert and mentor for junior developers, sharing best practices in coding standards, system design, and change management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to deliver projects on time and within budget, ensuring compliance with security, audit, and IT governance requirements.

What you bring

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Computer, or a related field.
• Extensive professional experience in application design, development, and maintenance and support, ideally within the insurance or banking industry.
• Strong command of enterprise programming languages (HTML, XML, Java – J2SE, J2EE, Servlet, JavaScript, SOAP, RESTful, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, PL/SQL, SQL) plus working knowledge of .NET/C#, relational databases (Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, MySQL), application/web servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, OHS, IIS), development tools (Eclipse, WebSphere Studio, Oracle Developer Suite, JDeveloper), and DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Nagios, microservices, CI/CD, RabbitMQ).
• Comfortable operating across Windows, Linux, and UNIX environments, with solid networking fundamentals (load balancing, clustering, LDAP, FTP, TCP/IP).
• Strong skills in systems analysis and design, with proven experience in change and project management within an IT development environment.
• Experience integrating AI algorithms and models to enhance application capabilities and decision-making, with fluent daily use of AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent).
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
