Expert Systems Engineer (Storage & Backup)

• Serving as a Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for Enterprise Storage and Backup Infrastructures; ensuring their management, maintenance, installation, and development
• Configuring storage allocations (LUN, Volume, Datastore, NFS/CIFS share), ensuring capacity optimization, and performing performance analyses
• Managing data backup, restore, and replication processes for all critical systems, databases, and virtual machines, and conducting regular restore tests
• Guaranteeing Service Availability and Quality through patches, component/firmware updates, and/or technology refreshes
• Generating system analyses regarding capacity, health, performance, and usage to evaluate and implement system improvements
• Developing and maintaining custom scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.) to increase system efficiency, automate manual tasks, and reduce human intervention time
• Maintaining Disaster Recovery (DR) scenarios and executing periodic DR tests to ensure business continuity in data disaster events
• Acting as an escalation point for lower-tier teams in resolving Storage and Backup Infrastructure issues
• Performing advanced analysis and troubleshooting of complex storage and backup issues
• Leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reviews for incidents, involving vendors/manufacturers when necessary
• Defining Policies, Procedures, and Instructions to ensure system availability, stability, security, and integrity for storage and backup infrastructure
• Providing Continuous Process Improvement by evaluating storage and backup hardware/software technologies, versions, and upgrades
• Collaborating with other technical service teams to manage, maintain, and resolve complex IT services

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
• At least 4 years of total professional experience in the relevant field
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in Storage (SAN, NAS, DAS) and Backup & Disaster Recovery infrastructure installation, configuration, management, troubleshooting, performance optimization, capacity planning, and security procedures
• Proven experience with Enterprise Block & Scale-Out NAS Storage Systems (Qumulo NAS, HPE Alletra/3PAR/Primera, Pure Storage, Dell PowerStore/PowerMax, NetApp, etc.).
• Strong hands-on experience with Enterprise Backup Software and Hardware Systems , with specific expertise in Dell NetWorker, Dell Data Domain (DDOS/PowerProtect) , Commvault, or Veeam Backup & Replication
• Strong experience with SAN Switching infrastructures (Brocade, Cisco MDS), including Fibre Channel (FC), FCoE, and iSCSI protocol management.
• Strong knowledge of Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server operating systems in relation to storage mapping and backup agent integration.
• Advanced understanding of core network concepts and protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS, TCP/IP, DNS, SAN fabrics) with strong infrastructure troubleshooting skills
• Preferably hands-on experience with VMware vSphere virtualization environments , including storage provisioning (datastore mapping, multipathing) and backup system integrations.
• Strong background in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (DR) operations , including storage/backup replication technologies, recovery point objective (RPO/RTO) management, and periodic DR testing processes
• Familiarity or experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructures (HCI) such as VMware vSAN, Dell VxRail, or Nutanix.Preferably experience with VMware vSphere and virtualization environment integrations with storage and backup systems
• Preferably knowledge and hands-on experience with ITIL, COBIT, ISO27001, and Service Management best practices
• Preferably vendor certifications such as HPE Product Certified / Master ASE (Storage / Alletra), Dell PowerProtect / Storage Professional, Brocade Certified SAN Administrator or equivalent
• Knowledge and hands-on experience in breaking down engineering tasks into sub-components and delegating work to junior engineers
• Ability to prepare thorough system documentation with high attention to detail, including requirements documents, operational specifications, system architecture, test plans, and as-built documentation Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines - Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills
