What they need

Cates, one of the first independent grain and seed companies in Mid Canterbury, specialises in the production and marketing of clover, cereals, grasses, pulses and brassicas for both domestic and international markets. For over 50 years, we have taken pride in the strong partnerships we've built with our loyal base of local farming families.

We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-orientated Export Documentation & Logistics Coordinator to join our Ashburton-based team.

The role requires the ability to work autonomously, effectively manage competing priorities, and maintain a well-organised workflow to consistently achieve documentation, customer, and shipment deadlines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Co-ordinating and processing shipping and export documentation in line with export and destination-country import requirements.
  • Effectively coordinating seed cleaning schedules
  • Updating and ensuring the accuracy of documentation across internal systems and multiple spreadsheets.
  • Maintaining and recording seed test results and grower contracts.
  • Taking ownership of work, whilst maintaining high standards and delivering a responsive service both internally and externally.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work independently, effectively organise and prioritise competing tasks, and consistently meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and learning new business systems; experience with ProDoc would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in documentation, export and logistics or similar would be advantageous.

While this position is advertised as full-time the hours of work will be negotiated with the right candidate.

If you are interested in joining a friendly and supportive team in a long-established local business, then we would love to hear from you!
