Export / Import Operator

About the role

As an Export / Import Operator, you will manage shipments from booking through to delivery, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and excellent communication throughout the process. Working closely with customers, shipping lines, customs brokers, transport providers, and warehouse staff, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of import and export shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage customer import and export bookings
• Provide proactive communication and updates to customers
• Confirm bookings and coordinate any shipment amendments
• Monitor shipment progress and resolve operational issues promptly
• Prepare and manage all shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Export and Import Permits
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements
• Support customs clearance processes and compliance activities
• Act as the primary contact for shipping lines and coordinate shipment requirements and amendments
• Enter and maintain accurate shipment data in CargoWise and update shipment milestones and status information
• Liaise with warehouse operations to ensure efficient cargo handling and work closely with Customs Brokers by providing required documentation

About you

• Previous experience in freight forwarding, shipping, import/export operations, or logistics
• Strong knowledge of international freight documentation and shipping processes
• Experience using CargoWise or similar freight management software
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Customer-focused approach with excellent problem-solving skills
• Reliable, proactive, and professional with a positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
