Extended Learning Program Instructor

Description Position Summary: To facilitate instruction with hands-on, project-based learning in academic, recreational, and social-emotional skills development programming.

Education And Experience Minimum of a High School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)

Minimum of one year of experience working in youth development or after school programs

Licenses And Certifications No Requirement

Core Competencies

• All instructors must have knowledge of RUSD’s Math and Literacy concepts and processes. All instructors must have the ability to facilitate small group learning centers for math and literacy practice and social emotional learning.
• Ability to run high quality, engaging programming using existing curriculum materials or developing your own initiatives.
• Knowledge of computers and SMART board for use in instruction.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to reach all students ability levels.
• Ability to engage in positive behavior management.
• Ability to adapt well and respond positively and resiliently to change in environment and/or job tasks and assignments
• Ability to work well with others and/or with little or no direct supervision
• Takes initiative, thinks critically, and uses deductive reasoning to address problems and issues

Essential Functions

• Create a learning environment where students feel valued and eager to attend.
• Provide differentiated instruction, with mixed-grade classrooms, using existing curriculum materials or developing your own initiatives.
• Record daily attendance.
• Attend all trainings and meetings as required.
• Provide high-quality program facilitation
• Other duties as assigned by the Site Lead and/or Director of Extended Learning.
