What they need
Create clear, engaging content for use across email, web, social, print and media channels
Turn technical and industry information into useful communication for members and the public
Help strengthen MTA's member engagement, visibility and reputation
The opportunity
Love finding the story and making complex information easy to understand? We're looking for a skilled communications specialist and writer who can create useful, engaging content that connects with our members and wider audiences.
Working with our Head of Marketing and Communications, you'll write and edit content that will be used across email, web, social, print and media channels. You'll get to know experts across MTA and turn their knowledge into clear stories and updates about our industry, advocacy, services and member benefits.
What you'll be doing
Plan and deliver coordinated member and external communications across multiple channels.
Write, edit and proofread content for email, web, social media, print and other formats.
Translate complex, technical and regulatory material into clear audience-focused language.
Coordinate content calendars, contributors, approvals, segmentation and distribution.
Support industry news, editorial content, media releases, our magazine - Radiator, podcasts and MTA's Annual Report.
Use channel performance, readership and engagement data to improve content and delivery.
Maintain MTA's brand, quality, privacy and approval standards across all communications.
About MTA
For more than 100 years, we've helped New Zealand's automotive businesses thrive. Our members work across the industry, from vehicle repair to sales, servicing, fuel, recycling, import, distribution, and more. We support them with practical services, advocate on their behalf and help lift industry standards. Joining MTA means being part of that work.
About you
You're curious, collaborative and thoughtful about the people you're writing for. You enjoy asking questions, finding the right words and getting the details right. You'll be comfortable juggling deadlines, welcoming feedback and working with colleagues from different backgrounds.
What you'll bring
Strong experience writing and editing audience-focused content across digital and/or print channels.
Excellent plain-language writing, editing and proofreading skills.
The ability to understand complex information and communicate it clearly without losing accuracy.
Strong organisation, planning, stakeholder coordination and attention to detail.
Good judgement about audience, tone, privacy, approvals and reputation risk.
An established professional network across key media outlets.
A relevant qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
We'd love to hear from you. Apply with your CV and a cover letter telling us what interests you about the role and the experience you'd bring.
