What they need

Egmont Honey is looking for a practical, hands-on Extraction Supervisor to help lead our honey extraction operation in Taihape. Reporting to the Plant & Production Manager, you will coordinate the extraction team each day, keep workflow on track and make sure our safety, quality, traceability and RMP requirements are followed from honey intake through to transfer.

The opportunity

This is not a clipboard-only role. You will work alongside the team and get your hands dirty when the job calls for it. We need someone who sees a problem, gets stuck in and helps put it right, whether that means supporting extraction, tackling cleaning, clearing a minor stoppage or completing a basic equipment fix within their competence. The workload is seasonal, with changing priorities and variable hours during peak periods.

What you will be doing

  • Supervising day-to-day extraction activities and coordinating the team across each shift.
  • Allocating work and adjusting workflow to meet extraction and throughput targets.
  • Ensuring RMP, food-safety, hygiene, quality and traceability procedures are followed.
  • Acting as the Plant & Production Manager’s right-hand person for extraction operations, keeping them informed of progress, staffing, equipment issues, downtime, and any safety, quality or compliance concerns.
  • Checking extraction, cleaning, testing and batch records are accurate and complete.
  • Leading pre-starts, safe work practices, PPE compliance and good housekeeping.
  • Monitoring downtime, waste, yields and equipment performance, and getting stuck into troubleshooting and basic fixes to keep extraction moving.
  • Training, coaching and supporting permanent and seasonal employees.

What you will bring

  • Experience in honey extraction or a similar hands-on plant environment.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a hands-on team.
  • A good understanding of food safety, hygiene, traceability and extraction records.
  • Confidence around plant and machinery, including practical troubleshooting and basic fixes within your training and competence.
  • Clear communication, sound judgement and strong attention to detail.
  • A safety-first, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude: you are willing to lead from the front, get dirty, take ownership and get things done.
  • Flexibility to work early starts, evenings or weekends during seasonal peaks when reasonably required.

How to apply

If you are an experienced extraction team leader who enjoys being close to the action, we would like to hear from you. Apply through SEEK with your CV and a short cover letter outlining your relevant extraction and leadership experience.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
