Early Years SEND Practitioner – Peterborough

Silvercrest Education is seeking an experienced practitioner to deliver face-to-face, one-to-one alternative provision for a Reception-aged child in Peterborough.

The provision will begin gradually, building towards 15 hours per week, in a suitable community venue near PE1. We are looking for someone available to start as soon as possible.

The child is autistic and has significant communication and developmental needs. Sessions will follow a personalised, play-based EYFS approach, prioritising positive relationships, communication, sensory exploration and engagement.

The role includes:

• Planning engaging activities around the child’s interests.
• Supporting communication through gestures, objects of reference and appropriate visual resources.
• Creating predictable routines and supporting emotional regulation.
• Working closely with the family and Silvercrest team.
• Recording attendance, engagement and progress towards individual targets.

We are looking for:

• Relevant early years, primary or SEND qualifications and experience.
• Experience supporting autistic children with significant communication needs.
• A calm, patient and responsive approach.
• Confidence delivering individualised learning in community settings.
• An enhanced DBS and membership of the DBS Update Service.

Experience of Intensive Interaction, alternative communication methods or personalised EYFS provision would be particularly welcome.

Location: Peterborough, near PE1
Hours: Gradual start, building towards 15 hours weekly
Basis: Self-employed
Pay: Dependent on qualifications and experience
Start: As soon as possible, following onboarding and safeguarding checks
