F & B Busser

Job Overview
The Busser supports food and beverage service by helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment for guests and team members. This position assists servers, bartenders, food runners, and other food and beverage team members by clearing and resetting tables, removing used dishes, glassware, utensils, linens, and service items, and transporting items to the kitchen, dishwashing area, or appropriate storage locations. The Busser also supports overall cleanliness and presentation by keeping service stations stocked, sweeping and mopping floors, wiping tables and surfaces, cleaning spills promptly, and assisting with opening, closing, and side work duties. This role is a hands-on hospitality position that helps ensure dining outlets, bar areas, banquet spaces, pool areas, or other assigned service locations remain guest-ready, safe, and efficient throughout the shift.

Job Responsibilities

Guest Service & Service Support

• Clear tables promptly and professionally after guest use
• Reset tables with clean linens, silverware, glassware, menus, and other service items as needed
• Assist servers, bartenders, food runners, and other food and beverage team members with guest service needs
• Remove used dishes, glassware, utensils, linens, trays, and other service items from dining and guest-facing areas
• Transport dishes, glassware, utensils, and service items to the kitchen, dishwashing area, or appropriate storage locations
• Monitor dining and service areas and respond promptly to team or guest needs
• Follow all company service standards, safety procedures, and sanitation guidelines

Service Execution & Efficiency

• Maintain clean, stocked, and organized service stations, dining areas, and assigned work areas
• Restock supplies such as silverware, glassware, linens, napkins, menus, condiments, and other service items as needed
• Assist with polishing, organizing, and returning service items to designated areas
• Support the flow of service by helping remove items from tables, bar areas, banquet spaces, pool areas, or other assigned outlets
• Assist with opening, closing, and side work duties to help keep the outlet guest-ready and efficient
• Perform related duties in accordance with safe workload expectations and applicable law

Service Items & Station Support

• Organize guest checks, check presenters, menus, pens, trays, and other service-related materials as assigned
• Return misplaced dishes, glassware, utensils, linens, and supplies to the appropriate areas
• Assist with keeping server stations, beverage stations, storage areas, and dish drop areas orderly and stocked
• Support servers and bartenders by communicating service needs and helping maintain smooth service flow
• Follow all procedures for handling guest property, service materials, and confidential information

Cleanliness & Organization

• Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, service stations, workstations, and assigned guest-facing areas
• Sweep and mop floors, clean spills promptly, and help keep walkways and service areas safe and clear
• Wipe and sanitize tables, chairs, counters, trays, menus, and other surfaces as assigned
• Empty trash, remove debris, and transport soiled linens or service items to designated areas as needed
• Assist with opening, closing, and side work duties related to assigned outlet service
• Follow sanitation, safety, chemical-handling, and equipment-use procedures
• Report maintenance, safety, or equipment concerns to management

Product Knowledge & Guest Engagement

• Maintain general knowledge of property amenities and on-site dining and beverage options
• Support a positive guest experience by keeping service areas clean, organized, and ready for use
• Communicate guest requests, spills, shortages, or service concerns to servers, bartenders, or management promptly
• Assist with maintaining a welcoming, safe, and efficient outlet environment
• Demonstrate a helpful, team-oriented approach during busy service periods and special events

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Food and beverage, hotel, hospitality, restaurant, bar, pool service, or guest service experience preferred. Equivalent hospitality experience may be considered.

Certifications: California Food Handler Card required within 30 days of hire. Responsible Beverage Service certification required within 60 days of hire for team members who serve alcoholic beverages. Additional certifications may be required based on assigned outlet, job duties, or applicable law.

Physical requirements:

• Constant standing, walking, and balancing throughout shift
• Frequent to constant bending, reaching, twisting, carrying, and use of manual and gross motor skills
• Occasional to frequent crouching, pushing, pulling, sweeping, mopping, and eye-hand coordination
• Frequent carrying/lifting up to 10-25 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to safely handle dishes, glassware, trays, linens, cleaning supplies, trash, and food and beverage service items in a busy service environment

• Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, organization, and presentation standards
• Ability to sweep, mop, wipe surfaces, clean spills, and follow sanitation procedures
• Familiarity with property amenities and dining outlets
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced service environment
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as scheduled; overtime will be handled according to hotel policy and applicable law.
• Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and workplace standards
