FA Engineer - Toolroom

We are seeking an experienced FA Engineer (First Article Inspection) to lead dimensional inspection and FAI functions within our Toolroom department. In this role, you will lead the inspection team, verify tight-tolerance machined inserts, cores, cavities, and tooling components against engineering drawings, and ensure calibration and compliance across all precision measuring equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• First Article Inspection (FAI): Lead and perform FAI for machined inserts, cores, cavities, electrodes, and tooling components, verifying critical dimensions, GD&T, and surface finish with tight tolerances up to $\pm 0.002\text{ mm}$.
• Inspection Team Leadership: Direct, schedule, train, and coach FAI inspectors on drawing interpretation, measurement techniques, and GD&T.
• Metrology & Equipment Management: Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and proper usage of precision measuring equipment (CMM, height gauge, micrometers, etc.).
• Problem Solving & Quality Alignment: Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for dimensional non-conformances, working closely with Machining, Tooling, and NPI teams to review 2D drawings and prevent defect recurrences.
• Documentation & Audit Support: Establish inspection standards, maintain FAI records, ensure traceability, and support internal/external ISO audit compliance.

Job Requirements

• Education: Minimum Diploma holder in Mechanical, Precision, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in precision inspection, metrology, or toolroom QA/QC environments. (Plastic tooling manufacturing and plastic molding knowledge is a strong added advantage).
• Technical & Blueprint Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex technical 2D engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and defined tolerance criteria.
• Quality Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949).
• Flexibility & Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; willing to support odd hours/overtime during urgent tooling or production schedules.

Working days: Monday - Friday

Working hours: 8.30am - 6.00pm
