• Develop and plan material strategies aligned with seasonal concepts, product categories, and item-specific requirements.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative materials for outdoor apparel and equipment.
• Proactively plan and support material development initiatives ahead of product creation timelines.
• Partner with Design and Product Development teams to ensure material solutions align with aesthetic and performance needs.
• Work closely with fabric mills and suppliers to manage material development projects and sample execution.
• Leverage knowledge of supplier capabilities and factory strengths to identify the best development resources.
• Coordinate material testing and performance validation to ensure quality and functional requirements are met.
• Maintain material development documentation and support material commercialization for production.
• Recommend and select brand-specific functional materials that enhance product performance and support the brand’s unique product identity.
• Evaluate material options based on functional performance, quality, durability, and cost to develop materials that deliver the optimal balance of performance and commercial efficiency.
• Apply a strong understanding of material costs and supplier capabilities to identify high-quality, cost-effective material solutions.
• Anticipate future material needs by continuously researching new technologies, functional materials, and market trends, and proactively incorporate relevant innovations into seasonal product planning. Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Material Science, Apparel, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in material development, fabric sourcing, textile innovation, or product development.
• Strong knowledge of outdoor performance fabrics, trims, and textile technologies.
• Familiarity with fabric development processes, material testing, and supplier management.
• Understanding of the strengths and capabilities of different mills and manufacturing partners.
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple development projects simultaneously.
• Good communication skills in English and Chinese.
