Our previous cutter has been a valued member of the team for many years, so we are looking for someone reliable and committed who would like to make this role their own.
About the Role
Working within our busy fabric workroom, you’ll be responsible for accurately measuring, preparing and cutting fabrics ready for production.
This is a hands-on role where accuracy and attention to detail are essential. You’ll work from job sheets and measurements, ensuring fabrics are cut correctly and efficiently so the wider production team can deliver quality finished products on time.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Checking measurements and calculations before cutting
- Preparing fabric for the next stage of production
- Working with a variety of fabrics and materials
- Operating workroom and commercial machinery
- Checking fabric and completed work for accuracy and quality
- Working closely with the wider workroom team to meet production deadlines
- Maintaining a tidy, organised and safe working environment
About You
Previous fabric cutting or workroom experience would be a definite advantage, but we are also interested in hearing from people with transferable skills and the right attitude.
You may have experience in curtains, furnishings, sewing, textiles, upholstery, manufacturing or another hands-on role requiring accurate measuring and cutting.
Most importantly, you will bring:
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong measuring and numeracy skills
- A practical, hands-on approach
- The ability to read and follow worksheets and instructions
- A good work ethic and reliable attitude
- The ability to learn quickly and take instruction
- Confidence working independently once trained
- A willingness to ask questions and learn new ways of doing things
- The ability to work well as part of a team
Experience using commercial machinery, sewing or working with different types of fabric would be helpful, but training will be provided for the right person.

You’ll enjoy:
- Early finish every Friday
- Modern, comfortable workroom in Riccarton
