Fabric Purchasing Coordinator

We are looking for a detail oriented and proactive Fabric Purchasing Coordinator / Fabric Buyer to join our team.

The ideal candidate has experience working with fabric wholesalers, understands different fabric types and constructions, and is comfortable managing multiple purchasing orders and deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily fabric purchasing for production orders.
• Communicate directly with local fabric vendors regarding pricing, availability, colors, and delivery timelines.
• Place and track fabric purchase orders, ensuring accurate quantities and timely deliveries.
• Negotiate fabric costs and identify opportunities to improve pricing.
• Monitor fabric inventory, reservations, and incoming shipments.
• Source alternative fabrics when needed to meet production requirements and target costs.
• Coordinate closely with the design, production, and sales teams to ensure fabrics are available when needed.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, and order tracking spreadsheets.
• Follow up proactively with suppliers to resolve shortages, delays, or discrepancies.
• Assist with additional production and operational tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Previous experience in fabric purchasing, textile sourcing, fabric sales, or apparel production coordination strongly preferred.

Familiarity with Downtown Los Angeles fabric wholesalers such as Unicolor, XL Fabric, Fabric Selection, or similar vendors is a major plus.

Working knowledge of fabric types, compositions, construction, and pricing.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Comfortable managing multiple orders and priorities simultaneously.

Strong communication skills and ability to follow up consistently with vendors.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, email, and basic office software.

Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a team.

Experience in women's contemporary wholesale apparel is highly preferred.
