Fabrication Drafter/Procurement

Bellingham Marine Australia is looking for a motivated, reliable and trustworthy draftsperson — ideally with a fabrication trade background — to join our team. It's a multifaceted role: detailed 2D drafting in AutoCAD, cutting and material lists, and purchasing project hardware and materials. You'll report to the Construction Manager and work closely with our state-based Sales Managers and the factory teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings for marinas and componentry using AutoCAD (2D)
• Develop BOMs, cutting lists and supporting technical documentation
• Purchase project-related hardware and materials
• Work alongside the production team to make sure designs are practical and manufacturable
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and client requirements, and translate them into accurate drawings
• Perform basic calculations and measurements for structural and mechanical components
• Update existing designs and documentation, and maintain version control and drawing registers in line with company and industry standards
• Ensure drawings comply with relevant standards and safety requirements
• Identify and implement design improvements that lift efficiency and quality
• Assist with product development and modifications driven by customer and production needs

About you

You're positive, motivated and eager to learn. You're punctual and reliable, comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and you bring a can-do attitude to a workplace environment.

• Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting or a related field (a relevant diploma, or a trade background in a related field, is also well regarded)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
• Drafting experience in construction, engineering, or manufacturing
• A practical understanding of manufacturing processes and materials — metals, timber and concrete
• Strong technical drawing skills and knowledge of relevant industry standards
• Intermediate Excel and solid all-round computer skills
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, high-quality drawings
• Sound problem-solving and analytical ability
• Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work well across departments
