Fabrication Estimator/Project Manager

Suburban Welding and Steel is a growing job shop/steel service center based in Franklin Park, IL. Suburban Welding is a third generation, family-owned company that has been in business for over 75 years and continues to grow through our focus on customer service and top-notch quality. We are looking to hire someone who can handle all aspects of a fabrication estimator; including but not limited to: determine scope of work by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications and other related documents to provide accurate quotes including production schedules for customer review and approval.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Accurately determine quantities and costs of materials
• Use internal and external resources to obtain accurate material prices and vendor quotes
• Review and study blueprints, construction drawings, and any other project documentation
• Review and incorporate historical data from pervious purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity to accurately prepare quotes
• Review, plan, and organize jobs awarded to company
• Review project Scope of Work. Identify raw materials and assess production processes (fabrication, welding, detailing, finishing) and calculate approximate labor costs
• Maintain working knowledge of all product information and computer system
• Determine scope of work and provide accurate and detailed quotes
• Communicate effectively with customers to resolve issues when they arise
• Build rapport with customers by responding efficiently and effectively responding to customers’ needs
• Maintain relationship with customers while continuing sales opportunities with prospective and existing customers
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Uphold compliance and quality standards

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English is a must
• Extremely Organized
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Previous welding and fabrication shop experience
• Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer Knowledge of and ability to use a tape measurer, veneers, dial caliper Ability to work safely by one’s self as well as in a team environment

This is a first position job, Monday thru Friday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm with the occasional Saturday. Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
