What they need
Step into the shop and keep production moving
From the first whistle to shift close, you’re the hub for material movement in our steel vessel fabrication shop. Reporting to the COO, you’ll take on daily machine shop runs and assignments, stage and deliver parts to the floor, and help ensure projects hit deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations.
A day in this role
You start by reviewing the day’s priorities assigned by the COO and the Fitter/Plant Manager. You coordinate with the VP Operations, Production Analyst, QC Manager, and Laborer Team Lead to understand what needs to be where and when. Forklift or crane at the ready, you stage plates, components, and production parts so welders and fitters never wait. Midday, you sandblast vessels as scheduled, complete receiving checks alongside the Receiving Specialist, and capture accurate paperwork. Before you wrap, you tidy the floor, return tools to their homes, and support the Controller with physical inventory counts of stock materials.
What you'll handle
- Execute machine shop runs and assignments as directed by the COO.
- Stage, move, and handle materials so production stays on pace.
- Assist with the build of steel vessels and a variety of production-related tasks.
- Follow all Plant Safety Policies covered in orientation and safety materials.
- Complete work and documentation within timelines set by the Fitter and/or Plant Manager.
- Partner with the Fitter and team to meet schedule, budget, and customer requirements.
Specific responsibilities
- Support the Receiving Specialist with receiving, inspecting, and reporting incoming materials.
- Accurately and promptly complete all required paperwork and documentation.
- Keep company tools and equipment in reliable working order.
- Move and stage materials, components, and production parts for upcoming work.
- Perform sandblasting of vessels as assigned.
- Maintain clean work areas; return tools and equipment to proper locations after use.
- Learn and safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
- Assist the Controller with physical inventory counts of stock materials.
Who you'll collaborate with
- Coordinate daily with the VP Operations, Production Analyst, QC Manager, and Laborer Team Lead.
- Communicate with welders and/or fitters about job requirements and work sequencing.
- Work with production personnel to ensure materials and finished work are available when needed.
What you bring
- Reliable habits: punctuality, dependability, and strong attention to detail.
- Success in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
- Physical capability to perform essential tasks of the role.
- Proficiency with a tape measure—accurate reading and use.
- Preferred: experience with a drill press, band saw, and other power tools.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and plant procedures.
- Commitment to a safe, clean, and organized workplace.
