SWORD Engineering Ltd is an established engineering company based in Wem, Shropshire. Due to continued growth and a strong workload, we are looking for experienced Fabricators / Welder to join our workshop team.

This is not repetitive production-line welding. Every project is different.

Our work includes conveyors, trommels, hoppers, access platforms, walkways, structural steelwork and bespoke machinery. We are looking for someone who enjoys heavy fabrication work, takes pride in what they produce and can confidently take a job from an engineering drawing through material preparation, marking out, fabrication and welding to finished assembly.

You’ll be joining a small, friendly and hardworking team where good workmanship is recognised, everyone’s contribution matters and experienced people are trusted to get on with the job.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabrication of bespoke equipment from engineering drawings
• MIG and MMA welding
• Cutting, drilling, grinding and material preparation
• Accurate measuring, marking out and assembly
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
• Producing accurate, high-quality finished fabrications
• Maintaining a safe, organised and tidy working environment
• Following company health and safety procedures

What We’re Looking For

This role is for an experienced fabricator who can work confidently from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.

You should have:

• Proven Fabricator / Welder experience
• Strong MIG and MMA welding skills
• Confidence reading and working from engineering drawings
• Good measuring and marking-out skills
• The ability to fabricate accurately from drawing through to finished assembly
• Excellent attention to detail
• A practical approach to problem solving
• Pride in producing high-quality work
• A reliable and positive attitude
• A good understanding of workshop health and safety

A minimum of 5 years’ relevant fabrication experience is preferred, although proven ability and quality of workmanship are more important to us than qualifications alone.

Desirable

• Mechanical fitting or machinery experience
• Heavy engineering, recycling or material handling experience
• Forklift truck licence
• Site installation experience

Hours

Monday to Friday
8:30am–4:30pm, with some flexibility to suit.
