Facilities Custodian

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Facilities Custodian to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our facilities. In this vital role, you will ensure that all areas are kept in pristine condition, adhering to safety protocols and sanitation standards. Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Maintain cleanliness of common areas, grounds, and vacant units.

· Assist with make-ready turns, including cleaning and painting.

· Perform light maintenance tasks as assigned.

· Support property safety and appearance standards.

· Travel between Cedar Rapids properties as scheduled.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

· Clean and maintain common areas, hallways, offices, restrooms, and vacant units.

· Assist with unit turn preparation, including cleaning, painting, patching, and touch-ups.

· Perform light maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, filters, hardware, or fixtures.

· Maintain community grounds by removing debris and ensuring overall cleanliness.

· Identify and report maintenance issues or safety concerns to management.

· Properly use and store cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.

· Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

· Painting as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Ability to perform cleaning and basic maintenance tasks with attention to detail.

· Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and hand tools.

· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

· Strong work ethic and reliability.

· Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred

· Prior cleaning, custodial, porter, or light maintenance experience preferred

· Painting experience is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Ability to perform physical tasks including but not limited to standing, bending, twisting, walking/running, lifting and repetitive motions.

· The ability to handle materials and equipment.

· Available for on-call maintenance emergencies as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Onsite at multiple residential properties

· Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays as needed. On-call support is required on an as-needed basis.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT:

· Local travel required between Cedar Rapids properties must have valid driver's license.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
