Smart4Sciences are looking to recruit a Facilities Engineer for a leading global manufacturing organisation.

This is a key engineering position responsible for the management, reliability and continuous improvement of the site's facilities, utilities and infrastructure. The role will work across plant operations, engineering, maintenance and EHS to ensure critical building systems and utilities operate safely, efficiently and reliably.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead facilities improvement projects, manage contractors, develop preventative maintenance programmes and support capital investment across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance and operation of plant buildings, infrastructure, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and associated facility systems.
  • Oversee critical plant utilities including compressed air, steam, water treatment, natural gas and electrical distribution.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute facilities improvement and expansion projects from concept through to commissioning.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance programmes for facility and utility equipment.
  • Manage external contractors and vendors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
  • Ensure facilities and utility operations comply with applicable local, state and federal regulations, building codes, fire safety and environmental requirements.
  • Partner with EHS to maintain a safe working environment and support audits, inspections and compliance initiatives.
  • Develop and manage facilities maintenance and capital budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and reduce operating and maintenance costs.
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to support wider plant objectives.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Facilities Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3–7 years' experience in facilities engineering, plant engineering or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial building systems and utilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, steam, compressed air and water systems.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, AutoCAD or similar design tools and project management systems.
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors and capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, safety and environmental requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational, communication and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work across functions.
  • CFM, PE or LEED certification would be advantageous.

Salary: US$110,000 – US$130,000 + benefits

If you have a strong background in facilities, utilities or plant engineering within manufacturing and are looking for an opportunity to take ownership of site infrastructure and capital projects, I'd be interested in speaking with you.
