Facilities Maintenance Technician, 2nd shift

Position Summary

Join a team that keeps production moving. As a Maintenance Technician at Merrill Steel, you’ll help maintain reliable equipment, support efficient operations, and contribute to a safe, productive workplace. Your skills and ideas will make a meaningful difference every day. Second shift runs 3:30 p.m.–3 a.m. Monday–Thursday, with voluntary Fridays; no Saturdays or Sundays.

Skills and Qualifications

• Organized and detail-oriented
• Clear communicator who works well with production teams and vendors
• Collaborative team player who can also work independently
• Strong mechanical skills and troubleshooting abilities
• Basic electrical knowledge
• Able to manage several tasks and prioritize effectively
• Comfortable reading schematics and technical diagrams

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy machinery, including CNC and Wheelabrator/blaster equipment
• Inspect facility equipment—including overhead cranes, chains, and bearings—and replace components when needed
• Complete hands-on repairs such as welding, hose and whip repairs, hydraulic work, filter changes, basic machining, and electrical maintenance
• Keep accurate maintenance records using logs and spreadsheets, including Microsoft Excel

Work Environment

You’ll work in a hands-on production setting, with temperatures that may range from 50 to 100°F. Some work areas include paints, chemicals, welding fumes, and airborne particulates. Pay: $63,240.00 - $78,390.00 per year
