Facilities Manager

About the role

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the school's facilities and premises team, supporting the cleanliness, safety and security of the school buildings and grounds. This includes overseeing cleaning and security services, maintenance and upkeep, asset management, and ensuring that the school's physical infrastructure is well-maintained, safe, and conducive to learning. The Facilities Manager will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with the School Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, evaluate, and review the day-to-day operations of facilities, utility management, and maintenance activities, advising the Building Manager
• Work closely with the Director of Operations to develop and review policies and Standard Operating Procedures for in-house services, the facilities budget, monitor expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Monitor and review the operations and service agreements of all subcontractors related to the school facilities, infrastructure, and equipment, such as cleaning, security, pest control, elevators, swimming pools, and fire alarm systems and ensure all are within the planned budget
• Manage construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects, from planning, tender review, negotiation, SLA levels, and recommendation for contract award, to completion, ensuring they meet quality standards and are completed within budget
• Ensure full implementation and adherence to safeguarding and child protection policies, practices, and training by service providers and contractors at all times
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and security measures to safeguard the well-being of students, staff, and visitors
• Ensure compliance with regulations pertaining to school facilities, including building codes and safety standards
• Plan, schedule, and supervise the pre-planned maintenance for all mechanical, electrical, fire life safety systems, and grounds in all school facilities
• Manage and supervise cleaning staff responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the school premises
• Lead and manage a team, including a building manager, facilities assistant, maintenance, security, janitorial, and school nannies, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations

About you

• Thai national
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in Thai and English
• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Manager or relevant leadership position
• Demonstrated success in facilities management
• Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and safety regulations
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements and a commitment to school safeguarding and child protection requirements
• Previous experience in an international school or educational setting is preferred
• Strategic thinker who sees the larger picture with a growth-mindset and can-do attitude
• Exceptional communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
