What they need
Cleveland Public Theatre is Hiring a Facilities Manager
Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is seeking a Facilities Manager who enjoys solving problems, caring for complex spaces, and helping other people do their best work. This is a hands-on management role for someone who can lead staff and vendors, build reliable systems, and step in when something needs to be fixed, cleaned, prepared, or figured out.
The Role
CPT’s multi-building Gordon Square campus includes performance venues, rehearsal and event spaces, offices, exterior areas, and a parking lot. No two days are quite the same. The Facilities Manager oversees the safety, cleanliness, maintenance, repair, and day-to-day readiness of the campus—and plays a lead role in facilities and site operations for major events including Pandemonium, SoftLaunch, and Día de Muertos.
What You’ll Do
Lead and support facilities and janitorial staff; coordinate contractors, service providers, and vendors.
Build and manage preventive-maintenance systems; respond to repairs and emergencies; complete hands-on repairs when appropriate.
Plan and execute the facilities side of performances, rehearsals, rentals, community programs, and major events—including site readiness, cleaning/restroom coverage, waste and recycling, temporary infrastructure, vendor access, and post-event reset.
Manage facilities projects, supplies, purchasing, invoices, budgets, inspections, safety procedures, and maintenance records.
Work closely across CPT departments and anticipate problems before they affect artists, audiences, participants, or staff.
What We’re Looking For
There is no single path to this position. We’re most interested in candidates with roughly 2–4 years of relevant experience in facilities, building maintenance, construction, property operations, event operations, or comparable work. Strong candidates will be organized, resourceful, communicative, comfortable supervising people and vendors, and willing to move between planning and hands-on work. Experience in a construction trade, theatre, arts, events, nonprofits, or multi-use facilities is a plus—not a requirement.
Schedule, Compensation & Benefits
Full-time salaried, on-site position. Evening and weekend work is required at times, especially around performances, major events, emergencies, and other high-activity periods. $44,000–$50,000 annually, depending on experience, plus medical, dental and vision insurance; short- and long-term disability; 401(k); paid time off; and free tickets to CPT performances and events.
