Position: Regional Facilities Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week

Reports to: Chief of Staff, Pastor

• GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE: Oversees the daily and long-term maintenance, construction/renovation programs for Nisqually Basin Catholic Churches. Administers daily operations including grounds, maintenance, janitorial, safety, security, transportation and energy management systems. Oversee janitorial and maintenance staff across locations.

• ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

  • Represents the parish when dealing with outside contractors in all major maintenance, construction and renovation projects.
  • Identifies outside contractors, vendors and service providers and negotiates contracts.
  • Purchases supplies and equipment from vendors.
  • Directs safety program and maintenance commission.
  • Provides direct supervision to the maintenance/janitorial staff and volunteers.
  • Recruits volunteers to help with Church facilities and grounds care, to include skilled plumbers, electricians, carpenters willing to work as needed.
  • Prepares and administers operating and capital budgets annually in April each year.
  • Monitors utility bills for errors i.e. water, electric, gas, reclaim water, etc.
  • Assures upkeep for vehicles owned by the parish.
  • Coordinates land purchase and sale transactions as appropriate.
  • Assures security of facilities, including key access systems.
  • Directs and implements the annual and long-range work plan regarding plant operations and maintenance.
  • Is available on-call 24 hours/day for emergencies.
  • Participates in staff retreats and meetings.
  • Assures necessary facilities-related support to all parish programs and special events.
  • Performs preventive maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating and air conditioning system failures.
  • Performs and/or schedules regular maintenance of power equipment.
  • Diagnoses problems and makes needed repairs (electrical, plumbing, structural) to buildings.
  • Checks boilers for proper operation making adjustments as appropriate.
  • Secures buildings when not in use.
  • Assists with set up for special events (e. g. chairs, tables and other equipment for special events).
  • Assures the church and other parish buildings are maintained in a clean and orderly manner including dust mopping and/or vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, and washing windows (Saint Columban)
  • Assures the parish grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner including mowing, watering and edging lawns, blowing walkways, weeding, pruning and raking on a seasonal basis (Saint Columban)
  • Assures the collection and disposal of garbage and recycle materials (Saint Columban)
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
