Facilities Support

Job Summary:

As part of the overall campus construction team, this position will assist with construction projects that focus on Carpentry related tasks. This position will provide oversight and coordination of all work activities, including but not limited to, layout/design, estimating, material ordering, work scheduling, permitting, and the installation and maintenance of Carpentry components.

For non-carpentry construction projects, this position will assist other team members, acting in lead roles for their specific trades, as needed to perform a multitude of construction activities. These activities may include tasks related to plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, and other trades connected to the construction industry.

In general, this position must be able to:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and code books to effectively perform the maintenance, repair, and installation of carpentry components.
• Have and maintain knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements.
• Understand and follow all campus safety procedures, design guidelines, inspection requirements, and financial policies.
• Clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, with various campus stakeholders.
• Successfully work independently or as part of a team, based on the unique requirements of each project.

Required Qualifications:

• High School education or GED
• Six months to a year of rough and finish carpentry to include activities as hanging drywall, finishing drywall, framing of walls, the installation of hollow-metal door frames, installing carpet squares and wall base.
• NE State Driver's License
• Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, shop drawings and project schedules. Basic knowledge of how to use power tools and small equipment as intended and is a safe operating manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of rough and finish carpentry experience

Position is considered a temporary, benefit eligible position. Potential for full-time employment may come available.

Selected candidate will need to complete a background check and pre-employment physical prior to the start of employment.
