Facility Caretaker

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Facility Caretaker to join our team at Alcona Elementary. This full-time position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for supporting the educational community.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities as required.
• Ensure that all safety and health regulations are followed, including proper handling of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and request replenishments as necessary.
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure that the facility meets the needs of students and the educational program.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including spills, accidents, and emergencies.
• Support the overall mission of Alcona Elementary by fostering a positive, safe, and clean environment conducive to learning.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in custodial work, or a related field is an advantage.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for special events or emergencies.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
