Assignment Details

Position: Facility Condition Assessor

Engagement: Full-time contract

Duration: Approximately 6 months

Travel: 75–100% nationwide

Schedule: Field-based, generally Monday through Friday, with frequent weekend travel

CEG Assessments has built a nationwide reputation on technical excellence, responsive project management, and highly trained professionals who care about doing the work right — and we're growing. CEG is seeking an experienced Facility Condition Assessor for a full-time, six-month contract supporting a large-scale nationwide facility assessment program involving government buildings.

This is a highly travel-intensive field position for someone who is comfortable spending the majority of the assignment on the road and independently assessing multiple buildings each week. Candidates should have direct experience with Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs), Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), building inspections, or similar existing-building evaluations and be able to confidently assess major building systems in the field.

What You’ll Do

You will perform visual Facility Condition Assessments of facilities at military installations throughout the United States, including potentially Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting detailed visual assessments of building exteriors, interiors, mechanical spaces, and major building systems.
  • Evaluating architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and other building components.
  • Inspecting representative interior spaces in accordance with the project sampling methodology.
  • Documenting existing conditions, deficiencies, repair and replacement needs, and relevant asset information.
  • Collecting and entering field data using custom software on a mobile tablet.
  • Recording component descriptions, locations, installation years, condition, expected/remaining useful life, and repair or renewal needs.
  • Capturing supporting photographs and field documentation.
  • Responding promptly to QA/QC questions and correcting incomplete or inaccurate field data when necessary.
  • Working independently while coordinating with project teams regarding schedules, site access, logistics, and field conditions.

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should bring meaningful experience evaluating existing commercial, institutional, multifamily, government, or similar facilities. Strong candidates will have:

  • Prior Facility Condition Assessment (FCA), Property Condition Assessment (PCA), building inspection, engineering, architecture, construction, or related field experience .
  • Working knowledge of major building systems and commercial construction practices.
  • Experience identifying building deficiencies and understanding repair/replacement considerations.
  • Familiarity with ASTM E2018 or similar property/facility condition assessment standards strongly preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline , OR 10+ years of relevant assessment/building experience for non-degreed candidates.
  • Strong written communication, documentation, and technology skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a demanding field schedule.

Travel & Physical Requirements

This position requires 75–100% nationwide travel for approximately six months . Candidates should expect frequent weekend travel, multi-week assignments, and Monday-Friday work at secure government facilities.

The work requires the ability to spend approximately 6–8 hours per day walking facilities and to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, access mechanical and other building areas, and occasionally carry equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.

Secure Facility Requirements

Because the work will occur at secure government properties:

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must successfully complete applicable government background investigation and installation-access requirements before beginning fieldwork.
  • Required project training will include safety, logistics, ASTM E2018, custom software, QA/QC procedures, and applicable DoD security/force-protection training.
