Facility Custodian

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Facility Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our facility. This vital role involves performing comprehensive cleaning and custodial tasks, ensuring all areas meet high standards of sanitation for the safety of our shelter animals and guests. The Facility Custodian will play key part in supporting minor maintenance and the overall appearance of our facilities, contributing to a positive experience for staff and visitors alike.

Duties

• Perform thorough cleaning of all facility areas, including offices, hallways, restrooms, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies
• Handle chemical cleaning agents safely by following proper handling safety procedures
• Operate floor scrubber, snow blower, and other custodial equipment to ensure floors are clean and well-maintained
• Conduct sanitation tasks such as trash removal, dusting, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces to uphold health standards
• Assist with light maintenance duties including minor repairs and general facilities upkeep
• Follow safety protocols diligently during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents or injuries
• Support heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices when moving furniture or bulky supplies
• Preforms other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or residential settings is highly preferred
• Experience with facilities maintenance tasks including basic repairs is advantageous
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking

Education

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Basic understanding of Lycoming County SPCA's services, policies/procedures, Pennsylvania Dog Laws, and basic zoonotic disease and disease abatement protocols. (Will train onsite.)
• Humane treatment of animals is a necessity.
• Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Must be able to use technology to clock in/out for hours worked.
• Up-to-date Tetanus vaccine will be required.

Pay: From $10.00 per hour
