Facility Manager-Operations

Job Purpose:

Data Center Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and strategic management of data center facilities. This role ensures high availability, reliability, security, and efficiency of all data center infrastructure, while leading teams and aligning operations with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all data center operations, including IT infrastructure, facilities, and support teams

• Ensure 24/7 uptime and availability of data center systems and services

• Oversee maintenance of servers, storage, networking equipment, and power/cooling systems

• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices

• Monitor performance metrics and ensure compliance with SLAs, KPIs, and regulatory requirements

• Manage incident response, escalation processes, and disaster recovery planning

• Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, capacity planning, and cost optimization

• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers

• Ensure compliance with security standards, audits, and certifications (e.g., ISO, Tier standards)

• Lead, mentor, and develop operations teams, including shift managers and engineers

• Manage budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation

• Support data center expansion, migration, and modernization projects

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)

• 8–12+ years of experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure management

• Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role

• Strong knowledge of:

• Data center infrastructure (power, cooling, racks, cabling)

• Servers, storage, and networking systems

• ITIL processes and service management frameworks

• Experience with monitoring tools, DCIM systems, and incident management

• Knowledge of compliance standards (ISO 27001, SOC, Uptime Institute Tier standards)
