Facility Shift Engineer (Registered ME&EE)

Job Summary

The Facility Shift Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hospital mechanical and electrical systems during assigned shifts. This role ensures uninterrupted delivery of critical utilities and compliance with healthcare facility standards, supporting patient care and hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

• System Operations: Monitor, operate, and maintain HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems.
• Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical/electrical faults promptly to ensure continuous hospital operations.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to hospital safety protocols, DOH regulations, and local building codes.
• Emergency Response: Act as first responder for facility-related emergencies (power outages, equipment failures, fire alarms).
• Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of shift activities, incidents, and maintenance records.
• Coordination: Collaborate with clinical staff, contractors, and other engineers to support hospital operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (licensed engineer).
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hospital or healthcare facility engineering.
• Strong knowledge of hospital-grade mechanical/electrical systems (HVAC, UPS, generators, chillers, medical gas).
• Familiarity with safety standards, infection control, and hospital accreditation requirements.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
