Facility Supervisor

PURPOSE: The Facility Supervisor position is responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of the Redeemer Lutheran Church building and property, both inside and outside. It also involves room set up and assisting with building security. It requires the ability to perform medium to heavy work, with the ability to lift and handle 50 or more pounds. The Facility Supervisor must have the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and general public, follow directions, and work with little or no supervision. Due to the requirements of this job, the facilities supervisor will need to possess a valid driver’s license.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Empty and clean all wastebaskets.

2. Clean and maintain all lavatories.

3. Check kitchen and clean as required.

4. Clean and maintain church mechanical equipment as needed (furnace, furnace filters, air conditioners, air conditioner filters, thermostats, thermostats batteries and security lights, etc.).

5. Clean and maintain all entrances, doors, door accessories (locks, etc.), hallways and stairways.

6. Clean and maintain all tile and carpet floorings (moping, vacuuming, waxing, etc.)

7. Clean, dust, polish and maintain all wood surfaces in the church (narthex area, church pews, altar, organ, piano, tables, chairs, ledges, countertops, etc.)

8. Clean, dust and maintain all offices, Sunday School rooms, Youth Rooms, Kinder Cottage Rooms, gymnasium and other rooms (including washing blackboards and tables).

9. Clean and maintain all lighting fixtures, inside and outside, including replacing light bulbs as needed. Contact assistance with high sanctuary lights and outside lights.

10. Arrange furniture, tables and chairs as necessary for special events.

11. Check and order necessary janitor supplies.

12. Clean and maintain all church pew cushions.

13. Clean and maintain all windows, inside and outside, including dusting window blinds, curtains or valances.

14. Snow and ice removal on sidewalks and steps as needed. Check entrances for ice and apply ice melt as needed. Be able to use snow blower for special events.

15. Mowing church lawn and maintenance of hedges and bushes as needed.

16. Remove church garbage to the church dumpster.

17. Secure assistance for heavy maintenance on furnaces, heaters, electrical equipment, dishwasher, refrigerator, sinks, toilets and electrical work.

18. Alert the Trustees of the need for painting, window repairs, general clean-up and repair as necessary.

19. Replace equipment, machines, cords, hoses, and tools when they are no longer repairable to safe working status.

20. Work with and coordinate volunteers (community service, etc.)

21. Contact professional services if required (ex. Electrician or Plummer), check with pastors first.

22. Develop work schedules at your discretion (cleaning, mowing, snow removal, etc.)

23. Hours of service should be flexible to include special events; such as, if special event on Saturday, flexible scheduling allows that no work be performed on Friday if custodian desires to work on Saturday during special event.

24. Attend weekly staff meetings.

25. Prepare daily/weekly/month cleaning schedule. See sample attached.

26. Other duties assigned as needed.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
