What they need

Join Our Team at The Fish Factory...

We're looking for reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic people to join our friendly production team at Quay Fresh & Frozen Foods (The Fish Factory) in New Quay, Ceredigion.

We're a well-established, family-run seafood business with over 50 years of experience. Now in our third generation, we specialise in processing and exporting high-quality seafood.

Whether you're looking for a long-term position or more immediate employment, we'd love to hear from you.

No previous experience necessary - full training will be provided. We're much more interested in finding people with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

What We Offer

  • Starting pay of £13.25 per hour
  • Pay increase to £13.75 per hour following successful completion of a 6-month probation period
  • Further increase to £14.25 per hour after 2 years' service
  • Production bonuses during busy periods
  • Christmas bonus
  • Employee referral bonus scheme
  • 30 days' holiday per year
  • Paid rest breaks
  • Enhanced parental pay
  • Paid sick leave after 2 years' service (subject to company policy)
  • Generous staff discount with our sister company
  • Free on-site parking
  • Full training provided
  • Temporary and permanent employment opportunities

About the Role

You'll be joining our busy production team, helping to prepare and process seafood products to a high standard.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Grading and quality-checking whelks
  • Cooking and processing seafood products
  • Weighing, bagging and packing finished products
  • Preparing products for dispatch
  • Loading and unloading deliveries
  • Cleaning and maintaining production areas and equipment
  • Following food hygiene and health and safety procedures
  • Working together with colleagues to keep production running smoothly

Please note: This is a physically demanding, hands-on role involving manual handling, standing for extended periods and working in a busy production environment.

Working Hours

  • 6:00am start
  • Full-time position, working a minimum of 5 days per week
  • Shift finishing times vary depending on production requirements
  • Additional hours available during busy periods

As a seafood processing business, our production schedules are naturally influenced by the fishing industry, including tides, weather conditions and the availability of fresh catches.

While we can guarantee a 6:00am start, finishing times can vary from day to day. We're therefore looking for people who can be flexible with their working hours and understand the seasonal and unpredictable nature of the industry.

Due to our early start time and limited public transport options, applicants will need reliable transport to and from our New Quay premises.

Who We're Looking For

You don't need previous factory experience to join us. We're looking for people who:

  • Are reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Have a positive, can-do attitude
  • Enjoy practical, hands-on work
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Can be flexible with their working hours
  • Can follow instructions and work safely
  • Take pride in doing a job well
  • Are comfortable with the physical demands of factory work
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK

Previous experience in food production, seafood processing or factory work would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

A forklift licence would also be beneficial, although not required.

If you're looking for a practical, hands-on role with an established local employer, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, please send us your CV along with a brief introduction about yourself.

Find out more about our family business at www.quayfoods.com.
