Job Title: Event Coordinator

Event Coordinator- Palouse Empire Fair:

The Fair Event Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and ensuring smooth operations around the events at the Fairgrounds. This position also coordinates the fair camping, vendor software, fair entry software and assists the Palouse Empire Fair Manager.

Work will involve considerable contact with the public. The Fair Events Coordinator must work with, and provide for, all groups which use the facility year-round. Work requires the ability to effectively communicate via phone calls, emails, and text messages when needed. Work is performed in both an office and field setting requiring the employee to perform work in all weather conditions at times. Work is also performed in both office locations, Whitman County Service Building office and the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds office. Due to the seasonal nature of events, the work schedule will at times involve weekends, evenings, and be intensive in nature during the summer months and during the Palouse Empire Fair.

This employee also works with the youth and is subject to a criminal/background check.

Experience, Education, and Training:

• High school Diploma or G.E.D.
• Bachelor’s degree in animal science, agriculture business, recreation or hospitality management is desirable.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in animal science, agriculture business, parks and recreation or hospitality.
• Must pass a background check and Washington State Patrol Abstract Driving Record check.
• Ability to obtain First Aid/ CPR/AED certification and Washington State Food Workers Card.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Starting Wage: $30.00/hr

Full Wage Range: $30.00 - $35.86/hr
