Job summary

Provides medical care to livestock, including cattle, swine, sheep, and poultry. Responsibilities:

• Provides medical care to livestock, including cattle, swine, sheep, and poultry.
• Diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing surgeries, administering vaccinations, and developing herd health and biosecurity programs.
• Advise farmers on nutrition, breeding, and disease prevention to ensure animal welfare.

Requirements:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution
• Valid state veterinary license in good standing
• Experience in large animal or livestock practice preferred
• Strong knowledge of herd health management, disease prevention, and biosecurity protocols
• Ability to diagnose, treat, and perform surgical procedures on livestock
• Understanding of animal welfare regulations and food safety standards
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical and treatment records
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with farmers and farm staff
• Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Willingness to travel between farm locations and respond to emergency calls
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound clinical judgment
