What they need

1. ROLE OVERVIEW

D-Base Multiventures is appointing a Farm Coordinator to run the day-to-day operation of D-Base Farm, our

commercial catfish farm in Ibadan. Working under the direction of the Farm Manager, you will own the feeding and

stocking schedule, the farm's records and reporting, and other farm-related activities.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Production Planning & Stock Oversight

  • Set and maintain the feeding and rationing schedule across all ponds, and take part in the daily feeding rounds.
  • Track stock condition, growth performance and mortality trends; act early on signs of stress or disease.
  • Carry out sorting, size grading and batch transfers between nursery and grow-out ponds.
  • Plan stocking cycles and harvest timing in line with the farm's production targets.

B. Water Quality & Site Systems

  • Carry out routine water quality testing; interpret the readings and decide on water exchanges.
  • Operate and schedule borehole, pump and generator running; arrange servicing and repairs before failures occur.
  • Inspect ponds, netting, plumbing and drainage regularly, and raise work for repair promptly.

C. Records, Inventory & Reporting

  • Own the farm's operating records: feed issued, mortalities, stock counts, fuel and equipment runtimes.
  • Reconcile recorded figures against physical counts, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Produce a weekly operations report to the Farm Manager covering stocking, survival and feed conversion.
  • Manage feed and supplies inventory, and flag reorder points before stock runs down.

D. Hands-On Farm Work

  • Work the ponds daily: feeding rounds, netting, sorting, grading and handling of stock.
  • Lead harvest days: netting, weighing, sorting, loading and the related paperwork.
  • Keep nets, hand tools, feeding equipment and pond surrounds in working order, and attend to minor repairs.
  • Set the daily and weekly work plan for the site, and account for what was and was not done.

E. Biosecurity & Site Discipline

  • Enforce pond hygiene and biosecurity practice across the site: net disinfection between ponds, secured overhead

netting, and prompt removal of dead stock.

  • Control site access so that visitors, buyers and vehicles do not introduce contamination into the pond area.

F. Other Farm-Related Activities & Projects

  • Support farm projects, installations and improvements as they arise.
  • Carry out other farm-related activities and duties as directed by the Farm Manager.

3. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education: ND or HND in Fisheries Technology, Aquaculture, Animal Science, Agricultural Technology or a related discipline.

Aptitude: We will train the right person. What matters is the ability to learn quickly, follow a system exactly, and take correction without needing to be told twice. Prior commercial aquaculture experience is welcome but is not a requirement.

Physical: Physical fitness and stamina for daily outdoor work and hands-on handling of stock and equipment.

Technical: An understanding of — or a clear willingness to learn — pond water quality management, feed conversion, disease prevention and stocking cycles.

Records & Reporting: Demonstrated record keeping, with the numeracy to reconcile stock and feed figures and report on performance. Comfortable with spreadsheets and smartphone-based reporting.

Location: Resident within daily commuting distance of Omi Apata / Elesude in Ibadan, or willing to relocate to the area.

Added Advantage: Valid driver's or motorcycle rider's license. Hands-on familiarity with earthen-pond systems.

Conduct: Honest, organised and dependable, with sound judgement when the Farm Manager is not on site.

All applications must be submitted through the online application form below. The form closes at close of business on Friday, 30 October 2026
