We are looking for an experienced Farm Vet to join our established farm team. You’ll have the autonomy to build lasting relationships with clients and act as primary vet for a number of our dairy herds. As an XLVets member practice, we offer the close connections of an independent practice alongside the shared expertise of a wider veterinary community.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide information and advice to clients on animal healthcare, including nutrition, breeding and herd health, to support compliance with relevant government and industry standards
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and provide clear clinical communication and advice
• Undertake routine and emergency farm visits to assess, diagnose and manage livestock health and welfare
• Perform euthanasia where clinically appropriate and in accordance with professional and welfare standards
• Perform surgical procedures and manage anesthesia in accordance with professional standards and practice protocols
• Diagnose and treat sick and injured animals during routine and emergency clinical work
• Provide out of hours cover for the treatment of emergency cases on a rota basis with other Torch Farm vets
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and safeguard the practice by completing case and communication notes within 24 hours
• Comply with medicines, prescribing, dispensing and storage regulations
• Promote the reputation and professional image of Torch Farm & Equine Ltd through high clinical, professional and personal standards
• Ensure professional knowledge and skills are regularly updated by taking part in CPD activities
• Comply with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Code of Professional Conduct
• Ensure all clinical work, medicines and associated expenses are accurately recorded and charged
• Ensure the economical and efficient use of practice time, facilities and medicines
• Maintain practice health and safety standards
• Promote good housekeeping practices
• Provide clinical guidance and support to technicians, support team members and veterinary colleagues where appropriate
• Support colleagues across veterinary client support, technical and clinical teams where required, assisting with operational, administrative and housekeeping tasks to help maintain efficient practice operations in-line with Practice Standards.
• Maintain good standards of personal cleanliness to assist with good infection control measures
• Support and mentor veterinary students and visitors undertaking placements within the practice as required
