What they need
About Us
Tirarin Co., Ltd. is a specialized Fashion Agency that takes fashion from concept to reality, covering design, manufacturing oversight, QC, and logistics. We partner closely with brand clients to bring their creative visions to life, working with factories and mills in China to deliver exceptional products. We're growing, and we're looking for a Fashion Developer / Technical Designer to join the team.
Position Overview
You are the bridge between what our brand clients imagine and what materials and factories can actually do. You'll turn concepts into production-ready garments by developing fabrics, refining silhouettes, and writing precise tech packs, while acting as a trusted commercial advisor from first concept all the way to delivery. Most of this work happens in English, with clients, with factories and mills, and inside our own systems.
What you'll do
- Research and develop fabrics and trims with mills in China, including custom yarns, finishing, wash, print, and dye, and recommend the right materials to clients with confidence
- Translate client briefs, mood boards, and trend directions into development proposals covering silhouette, construction, and fabric options
- Create detailed flat drawings (front / back / detail views) and complete tech packs covering construction, BOM, measurement specs, and finishing, clear enough for any factory team to execute without asking
- Manage the full development calendar: Concept → Proto → Fit → SMS → PP → TOP, with every milestone dated and owned
- Work closely with factory R&D, sampling, and sourcing teams in China, including travel to factories and mills 1 to 2 times per year
- Present fabric stories, collection directions, and development proposals to clients, and give honest commercial advice when a design needs to change for cost or production reasons
- Manage costing: request and compare quotations, analyze cost structures (fabric, trim, CMT, freight, margin), and negotiate toward target cost
- Keep every sample round on schedule, maintain version control across all revisions, and escalate problems early
Problems you'll solve, and prevent
- Fit. Look at a sample and tell whether the problem is the pattern, the sewing, or the fabric
- Fabric, specified right the first time. Composition, GSM, knit or woven structure, shrinkage, stretch and recovery, chosen so the garment survives wear and washing. This work belongs in development, not in firefighting after production has started
- Production issues, solved with the factory. When output does not match the approved sample, sit with the R&D team, find where it went wrong, and agree the fix together
- Cost, without the product feeling cheaper. Marker efficiency, construction changes, trim changes, fabric MOQ
What we're looking for
- Strong English in listening, speaking, and writing. Most of our work happens in English, so this is a requirement rather than a bonus. You will follow live online meetings with international brand clients every week and speak up in them, write comments and tech packs a factory can act on without guessing, and work in English inside our internal systems
- 3+ years in technical design, product development, or merchandising, on the OEM, garment factory, or fashion brand side
- You can read and write a full tech pack and measurement spec yourself, not just work from one someone else made
- You understand garment construction and pattern well enough to have a real conversation with a pattern maker and with QC
- Fabric knowledge: knit and woven, composition, finishing, and how a fabric behaves when it is dyed, washed, and worn (shrinkage, stretching out, recovery)
- Comfortable in Adobe Illustrator for flat drawings and Excel / Google Sheets for specs, BOM, and costing
- Direct experience with factories and mills in China, and happy to travel there 1 to 2 times a year
- A good sense for trend, color, silhouette, and commercial viability at the same time
- Careful with numbers and disciplined about version control
- You like a small team, fast decisions, and seeing the result of your work
Nice to have (please still apply if you don't have these)
- Mandarin Chinese, spoken or written. A real advantage here, and considered preferentially
- Adobe Photoshop for color boards and fabric boards
- A degree in Fashion Design, Textile, Apparel Technology, or a related field. Direct experience counts just as much
The honest part
This role sits in the middle. You will inherit problems created upstream in the brief and downstream in the factory, and you are the person who carries the documentation and version control that stops them happening twice. Some weeks that is most of the job. If that is the part you are good at, you will do well here.
