FDM 3D printing technician

Role Description The FDM 3D Printing Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Newark, NJ. The technician will operate and maintain FDM 3D printers, including preparing build files, loading materials, calibrating machines, and monitoring print jobs to ensure quality and consistency. Daily responsibilities include inspecting printed parts, performing post-processing as needed, documenting production activities, and coordinating with the team to meet project deadlines. The role also involves identifying and resolving print issues, implementing best practices for printer upkeep, and supporting continuous improvement of workflows and production standards.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in print production and printing, with hands-on experience operating FDM 3D printers or similar equipment.
• Ability to provide effective printer support, including routine maintenance and calibration of 3D printing systems.
• Familiarity with bindery or post-processing techniques such as trimming, cleaning, and finishing printed parts.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for resolving mechanical, software, or process-related print issues.
• Comfort with basic 3D file handling (e.g., STL, slicing software) and an understanding of print settings and materials.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple print jobs in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with production and design teams.
• Prior experience in 3D printing, manufacturing, or a related technical field is preferred; relevant technical training or certification is beneficial.
