Federal Outreach Helper

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION

STR8 UP Outreach Helpers assist individuals who have made a commitment to transformation and healing as part of their membership with STR8 UP. The role of a STR8 UP Outreach helper is to build positive and healthy relationships with STR8 UP members as they liberate themselves from gangs, addictions and criminal street lifestyles. Federal Outreach Helpers connect with STR8 UP members within federal correctional facilities and within the community to offer mentorship and guidance rooted in STR8 UP’s transformational healing model. Federal Outreach Helpers also support STR8 UP members to access individualized support from the larger helping community. Co-creation of individualized, robust and healthy support networks with our members is the primary responsibility of STR8 UP Outreach Helpers**.**

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

· Build healthy relationships with members of STR8 UP

· Demonstrate STR8 UP’s organizational values (Honesty, Humility, Accountability)

· Develop positive working relationships with support staff within the justice system

· Conduct intake, ongoing case planning and assessments with new members

· Maintain intake, case-planning, attendance and referral records

· Provide one-to-one life skills and problem solving

· Accompany and support members attending important appointments

· Assist in obtaining essentials to community living (I.D., financial assistance, housing, education, employment, etc.)

· Role model a positive and prosocial lifestyle

· Participate in STR8 UP presentations and other STR8 UP activities

· Support access to other services and opportunities in the community

· Work as part of a larger team to implement organizational strategies and priorities

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
