Feed Improvement Manager

We are seeking an ambitious, forward-thinking Feed Improvement Manager to join our Seawater Management Team and play a leading role in advancing feeding performance across our salmon farming operations.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of feeding within one of Ireland's leading aquaculture businesses. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving best practice feeding, improving biological and operational performance, expanding our remote feeding capabilities, and leading the adoption of innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence and automated feeding systems.

Working closely with farm management teams, feeding operatives, technical specialists and senior leadership, you will use data, technology and operational expertise to deliver measurable improvements in feed conversion, fish growth, fish welfare and overall farm performance.

If you are passionate about aquaculture, continuous improvement and innovation, and are excited by the opportunity to influence performance across a large-scale farming operation, we would love to hear from you.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of feeding best practices across all seawater farming operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in feed conversion ratio (FCR), feeding efficiency and overall production performance.
  • Develop and implement feeding strategies that optimise fish growth, health and welfare while maximising operational efficiency.
  • Expand and enhance remote feeding operations, ensuring consistency, effectiveness and scalability across farming sites.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement new technologies that improve feeding performance and operational efficiency, including AI-based solutions, machine vision systems and automated feeding technologies.
  • Analyse feeding, biological, environmental and production data to identify trends, opportunities and performance improvements.
  • Establish meaningful KPIs and reporting tools to monitor feeding performance and support data-driven decision making.
  • Lead improvement projects from concept through to implementation and performance review.
  • Support feed budget planning and management, ensuring effective utilisation of resources and delivering value for the business.
  • Involvement in procurement and implementation of feeding-related equipment and technology.
  • Involvement in feed supplier meetings, including feed formulation and forecasting.
  • Work collaboratively with farm managers and operational teams to ensure consistent application of feeding standards and procedures, including internal training and mentoring across all Irish farms.
  • Build strong relationships with feed suppliers, equipment providers, technology partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements and the highest standards of health & safety, environmental stewardship and fish welfare.

About You

You will be an experienced aquaculture professional with a proven track record of delivering operational improvements and driving performance.

You are comfortable working with data, highly motivated by achieving results, and enjoy identifying opportunities to improve the way things are done. You will also be excited by the role technology and innovation can play in shaping the future of salmon farming.

Essential

  • Significant experience within aquaculture, preferably salmon farming.
  • Strong understanding of feeding operations and the factors influencing fish performance.
  • Demonstrated experience driving operational improvements and delivering measurable performance gains.
  • Experience analysing data and translating insights into practical actions.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, innovative and solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong computer literacy.

Desirable

  • Experience in remote feeding operations.
  • Experience implementing new technologies, digital solutions or AI-driven systems.
  • Knowledge of feed management, nutrition and feed budgeting.
  • Experience managing capital projects or equipment procurement.
  • Qualification in Aquaculture, Marine Science, Agriculture, Engineering, Data Analytics or a related discipline desirable, but not essential.

What We Offer

We offer the opportunity to join an innovative and growing aquaculture business committed to producing high-quality, sustainable organic salmon while continuously improving the way we operate.

This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to shape feeding strategy, influence business performance and lead the adoption of technologies that will define the future of salmon farming.
