FEED MILL SHIFT SUPERVISOR – Devonport (24/7 shiftwork roster)

Tasmanian Stockfeed Services is the leading manufacturer of stockfeed and associated services in Tasmania.  This Tasmanian family owned and operated company was established in 2006 and has enjoyed consistent and continual growth.  The business has its head office in Launceston and mill and warehousing operations in Devonport and Burnie.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Shift Supervisorto join our Devonport production team, reporting to the Production Manager.  This role works under a 24/7 rotating shiftwork roster and manages the day-to-day operations of the feed mill in a just in time operational environment.  You will have previous leading hand experience in a manufacturing environment and bring good leadership and experience to the team. This role offers on the job training and is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop and grow within a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operate feed mill system and manage production operations to ensure daily production plans are achieved in a safe and efficient manner
• Provide direct supervision and support to mill staff and contractors during shift
• Undertake shift changeover activities and complete required documentation and end of shift reports
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, operational and FeedSafe quality standards
• Ensure required training is completed and recorded before allowing staff to work independently
• Ensure all incidents, near misses, hazards or other issues are reported

Key capabilities required include:

• Ability to successfully control mill operations and achieve production outcomes in a 24/7 environment
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and think on your feet in a just in time, dynamic environment
• 3+ years of proven experience managing production, manufacturing and warehouse operations
• Very strong safety and compliance knowledge, experience and focus in similar environments
• Effective people manager with a professional, positive and can-do attitude
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills with ability to manage operational priorities
• Highly dependable, flexible and collaborative team player with a proactive continuous improvement focus
• Good communication and customer service skills and works well unsupervised
• Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems
• Current forklift licence is compulsory
• Mechanical aptitude and confined space and working at heights training would be highly advantageous
• Physically fit and able to complete repetitive manual handling tasks, including lifting and carrying weights up to 25kg and working in awkward positions
• Available to work shift work in a 24/7 environment, including 12 hour day and night shifts
