Position: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM; Saturday, 7:00 AM–12:00 PM, with one Saturday off per month

Who We Are

At Lyssy & Eckel, our mission is to support the success of farmers, ranchers, hunters, and livestock exhibitors by providing dependable, high-quality, all-natural feeds and agricultural products built on integrity, experience, and proven nutrition.

Established in 1945, Lyssy & Eckel is a third-generation, family-owned company with deep roots in the agriculture industry. We combine decades of experience, professional nutritional oversight, and a wide range of quality ingredients to create feed solutions that support animal health, performance, and gut integrity.

Every employee plays an important role in our commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and service. Whether working in manufacturing, formulation, or directly with customers, our team takes pride in delivering the right feed, every time, for every customer and their animals.

Position Summary

We are looking for a customer-focused Feed Sales & Customer Service Representative to assist customers with feed selection and ordering, provide order and delivery updates, and perform the administrative work needed to keep orders, invoices, and customer records accurate.

This position combines feed sales and customer service with substantial administrative responsibilities. The employee will work directly with farmers, ranchers, livestock producers, and other animal owners to understand their animals’ needs and recommend appropriate company products. Daily responsibilities include entering orders, verifying invoices, investigating and correcting discrepancies, maintaining records, and communicating with customers and internal staff to confirm order status, delivery locations, and expected arrival times.

Animal nutrition experience is highly desired and a significant advantage for this role. Practical knowledge of livestock nutritional needs, feed ingredients, feeding programs, and product selection is especially valuable. A strong background in agriculture, livestock, or animal feed is also highly preferred. A degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Agriculture, or a related field is a plus, but relevant hands-on industry experience is equally valuable.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Take and accurately enter customer feed orders by phone, email, and other ordering methods.
  • Ask customers about their animals, life stage, production or performance goals, and current feeding practices; recommend appropriate company feed products using company product information and guidance from the company’s nutrition resources as needed.
  • Verify invoices against customer orders and available delivery records, checking product descriptions, quantities, pricing, and applicable charges for accuracy.
  • Investigate order and invoice discrepancies, coordinate corrections with the appropriate department, and follow through to confirm resolution.
  • Respond to customer questions about when and where their orders will arrive and communicate reported delays, changes, or delivery concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Perform daily administrative duties, including updating order information, documenting corrections, organizing order and invoice records, and following up on unresolved customer requests.
  • Develop strong relationships with existing customers and identify opportunities for additional sales.
  • Assist with new customer development and follow up on sales opportunities.
  • Maintain complete and accurate customer, order, and invoice information in company systems.
  • Learn the company’s feed products, their intended uses and nutritional features, ordering systems, and internal customer service processes.

Qualifications

  • Animal nutrition experience is highly desired and a significant plus, particularly experience evaluating livestock feeding needs and recommending appropriate feed products.
  • Education in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Agriculture, Livestock Production, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Agricultural, livestock, feed, ranching, or related industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Customer service, feed sales, order entry, invoice verification, or administrative experience is helpful.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy with numbers and records, and ability to identify and resolve order and invoice errors.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer requests, orders, administrative tasks, and follow-up priorities at the same time.
  • Comfortable using computers, Excel, and learning company-specific software.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with multiple departments.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate enjoys working with farmers, ranchers, livestock producers, and other animal owners and brings a strong interest in animal nutrition. Candidates with practical nutritional knowledge and experience matching feed products to animals’ needs are especially encouraged to apply. They should be comfortable making product recommendations, assisting with orders, and communicating clearly with customers.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of customer needs and enjoys detailed administrative work. Success in this role requires accurate order entry, careful invoice review, timely correction of discrepancies, and dependable follow-up so customers receive clear information about their orders and expected deliveries.
