Mosaic 1898 Direct Payments Support Service are assisting a woman in her 30s near Barwell to recruit 2 experienced female personal assistants for 24 hours per week, comprised of 2x 12 hour shifts each.

You would assist her in all aspects of daily life. Duties include:

• Assisting with washing and dressing

• Personal care

• Using a track-ceiling hoist to transfer from bed to wheelchair

• Driving her WAV to attend appointments, taking her shopping and visiting friends

• Cleaning and domestic tasks around the house.

We are looking for an experienced carer who is able to use their initiative and be proactive in the support they provide. They must be a confident driver who is comfortable driving their WAV van. The van is automatic transmission; you must be over 25 to drive it. This requirement is due to Driving being an essential part of the job, rather than a concern about getting to your shifts. It is also essential that carers are animal lovers as there are 6 cats at the property and larger animals including Donkeys on the grounds.

You will be given your Rota a full month in advance, giving you plenty of time to work this around other commitments and know that you can rely on getting those hours. The employer is happy to be flexible in terms of what shifts you take and re-arranging shifts if needed. The standard pay rate is £13-£15 per hour, but during Christmas, New Year’s and Easter bank holidays you will be paid double (£26-£30 per hour). You will be given 24 hours per week, but there is the possibility to increase this once a good working relationship is formed. Shifts will typically be during the week, with occasional weekend shifts.

It important that the PA is professional but also fits into the family, has a good sense of humour and takes the time to get to know and understand the needs of the lady to become part of her life. This is a post with an immediate start date for the correct candidate.

Essential Criteria:

• Female (Due to personal care being provided)

• Over 25 (for car insurance)

• Confident driver would be comfortable driving a WAV (automatic transmission)

• Animal lover (multiple animals at the home)

• Experience in care for physically disabled people

• Able to use own initiative and work independently

• Able to communicate effectively with clients and their families to ensure understanding of care requirements.

Desirable:

• Experience driving/operating a WAV

• Experience in working with non-ambulatory wheelchair users 1:1

• Experience with manual handling using a track ceiling hoist to transfer to/from wheelchair

Working with Disabled Employers:

• To provide assistance at the right time, enabling the employer to lead an independent/individual lifestyle in their own home within the community.

• The PA should understand their role to assist with the self-defined needs of their disabled employer, and feel confident to ask what these needs are, and listen to requests and follow directions given

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 per week
