PERSONAL NIGHTTIME ASSISTANT IN KIRKSTALL

Pay Rate £15.00 per hour

Night‑time hours are 10pm to 8am, seven days a week. These hours will be covered by more than one successful candidate on a shared rota

We are looking for compassionate and reliable nighttime support worker(s) to assist a young woman (30 yrs old) who has severe and complex needs including cerebral palsy, profound deafness, visual and learning difficulties. Movement around the house is via hoist or wheelchair but this being a nighttime position the role will be monitoring and supporting the client in preparing for sleep and personal care needs during the night.

You will be working in the home within a family environment although no-one under the age of eighteen.

This is an opportunity to develop personally as training will be provided by a physiotherapist and learning disability nurse and family members for moving, handling and administering pain relief.

A willingness to learn British Sign Language at a basic level would be useful, and again full training would be provided.

The client has a wonderful sense of humour and enjoys meeting new people and interacting with all ages. Food is a great passion and watching ‘Bake Off’ a close second.

It is important that the support worker understands that the client has choice and control over her life. The support worker needs to be confident and motivated in order that the client uses the time with her support workers to engage in communicating.

There is flexibility in the role depending on candidate availability. Preferably four nights per week 10pm to 8am. Some weekend cover preferred, nights can be fixed or flexible or changed each week on an agreed rota.
