Fiber Optic Technician

URGENT HIRING: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fiber Optic Technician to immediately join our team. Veterans, National Guard/Reservists, or transitioning military service members are strongly encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in fiber optics, including fusion splicing, termination, and OTDR testing, combined with a strong mechanical background. As a Fiber Optic Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex fiber optic networks to ensure peak performance and reliability for our clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Fiber Splicing & Termination: Perform high-precision fusion and mechanical splicing, fiber terminations, and enclosure preparation in aerial, underground, and building environments.
• Installation & Configuration: Route, pull, and dress fiber optic cables, patch panels, and related telecommunications equipment according to industry standards.
• System Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct routine maintenance, OTDR testing, optical power meter readings, and fault detection using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and optical scopes to diagnose and resolve network issues.
• Field Collaboration: Work closely with field service teams, project managers, and clients to ensure timely project delivery and complete customer satisfaction.
• Technical Support: Provide expert technical support on-site and via phone/email as required.
• Documentation & Records: Maintain detailed, accurate logs of installations, splice traces, maintenance records, and service calls.
• Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to safety standards, low-voltage electrical regulations, and OSHA guidelines on all job sites.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Availability: Immediate start preferred to address urgent project requirements.
• Experience Level: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Fiber Optic / Telecommunications Technician (including direct experience with fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber cable management).

Certifications:

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
• Industry Certifications: FOA (CFOT/CFOS), ETA (Fiber Optics Installer/Technician), or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.

Military Background: Veterans, National Guard, Reservists, or transitioning military personnel are preferred (not mandatory).

Technical Skills:

• Solid mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools, precision optical tools, and electronic test equipment.
• Strong familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure, low-voltage systems, and Ethernet technologies.

Communication & Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members, field crews, and clients.

Licensing & Travel: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for traveling to client and job sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
