With over 20 years' experience in the dynamic Information Technologies sectors, MMC delivers superior projects safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Our values - Collaboration, Innovation and Integrity - guide everything we do, as we work towards our vision of taking MMC from Good to Great.

The Opportunity

Our current Fibre Infrastructure Build Manager is retiring next year, and we're looking for an experienced leader to step into this key role and continue driving the success and growth of our Fibre Infrastructure Division.

As Fibre Infrastructure Build Manager, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of all fibre optic infrastructure projects - from tender/quotation to final commissioning. You'll manage a team of Project Managers, Delivery Specialists, and Fibre Technicians, ensuring projects meet scope, time, cost and quality targets while building strong client and stakeholder relationships.

This position will also champion continuous improvement, operational excellence, and safety across all aspects of fibre infrastructure project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, coordination, and delivery of fibre infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee tender & quotation processes, ensuring competitive, accurate submissions.
  • Manage budgets, cost tracking, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Direct and support field teams to achieve project milestones on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with HSEQ standards and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and local authorities.
  • Business development and key account management: Drive the future success of the business by actively engaging with clients, identifying new opportunities, and expanding existing relationships.
  • Drive improvements through the Plan, Do, Check, Action (PDCA) methodology.

About you

  • Experience: 7-8+ years in fibre optic infrastructure, project management, or telecommunications.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of fibre optic network design, build and commissioning.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organisational Skills: Capable of managing multiple concurrent projects with conflicting priorities.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpresonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Safety Focus: Understanding of health & safety legislation and worksite compliance.
  • Other Requirements: Full NZ drivers license
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and contractor performance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • The ability to work independently and prioritise appropriately in order to complete assigned tasks
  • A can-do attitude and dedicated work ethic

Why Join MMC?

  • Step into a leadership role with a planned handover period before the current manager retires.
  • Lead significant fibre infrastructure projects across New Zealand.
  • Be part of a collaborative, values-driven team with a strong growth focus.
  • Competitive remuneration package for the ideal candidate.
  • Business vehicle provided for business use.
  • Gym usage available to support your health and wellbeing.
  • Short Term Incentives (STIs) for successfully meeting KPIs.
  • Specsavers corporate discounts.
  • Bulk fuel discounts for family and friends.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

If you're ready to take the lead in delivering high-quality fibre infrastructure projects and shaping the future of MMC's Fibre Division, we'd love to hear from you.
